UNICEF’s global inventory for innovation and technology for development (T4D) projects
INVENT amplifies the visibility of innovative projects across countries and regions, helping identify scalable solutions with the potential for global impact.
INVENT serves as a strategic tool to help focus investments in innovation. By cataloging a diverse range of innovations, INVENT enables visibility and collaboration across UNICEF’s global network.
With an emphasis on scalability, it is designed to surface high-impact initiatives that can be adapted and expanded across multiple countries and regions, ensuring that innovative solutions reach more children and communities in need.
Why a Redesign?
Despite its potential, low user engagement and UNICEF’s complex multi-country structure have limited INVENT’s adoption. A redesigned visual identity and user interface were critical to making the platform more engaging, intuitive, and actionable.
Key Challenges
◦ User Engagement: A refined user experience (UX) that simplifies data entry and navigation.
◦ Multi-Country Complexity: The platform balances global standardization with local adaptability. It provides flexibility for country-specific needs while maintaining coherence.
◦ Incentivization & Ownership: Defined roles and responsibilities ensure sustained usage. Clear incentives encourage staff to contribute and engage.
